‘Amount’ knob to control the amount of saturation Revolutionary DTC ‘Dynamic Transient Control’ technology
Headline Features Of Harmonics By Softubeįive very different component-modelled distortion sounds: and still is… a seriously powerful plug-in that sounds great in just about every mixing application. We were extremely excited to put Harmonics to the test as Softube’s previous analog style plug-in Tape, released back in 2017, was. You'll get way more life out of your other sims when you use them with these awesome cabs and eqs, etc.The masters of analog plug-in emulations Softube recently released a new suite of distortion flavours ranging a variety of common mixing saturation styles in a plug-in called Harmonics, described by Softube as a dynamic distortion tool. I even find new things in other modelers or pull up songs/demos on YouTube and quickly find something equal or better with amp room (mind you, I have most of it unlocked by now).Īnd for you guys that already have other sims, don't forget you can use those for the amp sounds, skip that can section, then run it into amp room to user those cabs and utilities. I've used it constantly for a year and I'm still finding new and better sounds and combinations.
The smaller number of components and superior gui allows for more experimentation and discovery, which is what keeps it endlessly fun. I think it's the best sim of any kind for recording and just jamming, and it's nice to be validated. Each amp used to be $150! $100 used to be a great deal and now they are way below that.Īnd I'm just glad to see other people discovering amp room, since I'm more or less the only guy here that does. And then stuff will be on sale all November, so keep your eyes peeled if there's something of interest. There's a lot of amp room expansions currently on sale until the end of the month that are very cool. They have a statement on their site about m1 compatibility, but nothing on the new os yet. I can only hope they work all this out soon. When loads of efx are needed there are other/better alternatives though.īut for 69$/€ (on sale right now) you can't go wrong. So far I think it is the best of the bunch - at least for pure amp sounds. All good, all have their strengths and weaknesses, but Softube Amp Room is a very good alternative. Very musical sounding, pretty perfect for my ears and some of my music.īTW, I also have and use Guitar Rig 6 and -occasionally - Scuffham S-Gear or the Waves/PRS supermodels. Works great with both singles and hums and delivers punch. This one has authority, loads of great midrange, sounds very in-yer-face direct, round, warm and - well - like a good old AC30 should. Finally, finally (!) an AC-model which is not too trebly, thin and just plain annoying. My favorites so far: the Rectifier, the Ampeg, the DI, the Room IR module, studio compressor/EQ and the 1x12" 75W wooden cab.Īnd then there is the AC30. Yes, the selection of amps and effects is somewhat limited, but the sound is there and the UI is straightforward. It is really astoundingly good - for both guitar and bass.Ĭreating your own presets is very simple and (to me) very rewarding. Nothing sounds overly polished, just very raw, *very* real and sits in the mix like nothing else. What I like most is the "purity" of the basic sounds. I only have it for a few days now, but man, does that plug-in deliver. Kind of annoying really, but it works.Īnd once it's up and running it is simply fantastic. It loads only after I press "ok" in the plug-in manager window and it still shows only as "incompatible" in the AU-browser.
Whenever I start Logic Pro I receive a message that the software is "invalid and might cause data-loss". Yes, there are issues with Softube Amp Room.
